So I had a some vanilla yogurt, the rest of a bag of trail mix (which was not a lot, btw -- maybe 1/3c?), a ho-ho, and some almonds. Later, I had a cup of coffee and another ho-ho.
I had a really good, healthy lunch, so... not a total culinary disaster of a day. Still, I guess I've learned my lesson about how long I can put off supper before I just melt down in the kitchen. Eight o'clock is Too Late.

I went back today after not going since first visit. I had to get over my culture shock and rethink my approach. I'd decided to just play it by ear, eat the lost deposit, and go find a new gym. But for this visit, I prepped differently. After all, I'm working from home now. I don't need to go to the gym with my stuff in a bag and change in the locker room (which I hadn't the last time, either, but I had my bag with some extra stuff in it). With that in mind, I took a very small bag I could carry around with me and put my essentials in it (id, keys, a bit of money in case -- I was never a Girl Scout, but you'd never know it from the way I'm always trying to be prepared for anything), made sure I HAD MY IPOD and took a couple of magazines, and that was it.
And this time? I really liked it. I got to start earlier (sign-up took so long, I ended up in the thick of the busy post-work time that day) so got one of the the good treadmills. I found a good spot to do lunges. I tried a few of the other machines and found they have a few of the ones my gym-before-last had but most-recent gym didn't (and that I'd liked), and I got in a really good workout. Which I didn't Monday which I'm sure added to my disappointment.
It's pretty conveniently located, has a lot of stuff and classes, and I think I'll give it the ol' college try for the rest of my grace period. But as of today? I think I'll stay. Price is right.

Okay, so I did a dumb thing today, but I was getting pretty desperate for a workout, so I'll blame lack of endorphins. I joined a club I should've just guested at. Goober = me. Anyway, at worst I'll be out the deposit which was discounted so it isn't as bad as it could have been. At best, I'll decide I like it after all. It certainly isn't very expensive. I was paying almost twice as much for my former gym -- but it had the benefit of being SOOOO worth it. Gorgeous place, roomy, lots of stuff and classes and no kids allowed, nice staff, carpeted locker room... just a wonderful place.
Y'know? I think it's the locker room that killed it for me. It just wasn't very nice at all (not dirty... just... so locker-roomy), and I was so spoiled at my previous gym. Not sure I'll be able to find anyplace as nice as that one was.
But I'm going to suck it up, check out a few competitors, keep going to this one and try some classes (I have a month to try it out during which I can still cancel, and I might as well since I'll lose my deposit regardless -- I'll try to make it worth the money spent as much as possible).
And I forgot to take my iPod. So there I was. iPodless. And they didn't have any space for just stretching and doing lunges and stuff which I really like to do. The gyms I've looked at here so far have made poor use of their space this way -- it's all machines and no open areas. Whatevs.
