tagged me for a meme! Whee!

Here are your rules.

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people and post a comment to [info]maryrobinette's blog (your tag-ees will post to mine, etc.) once you've posted your three sentences.

The nearest book was Journal d'une Princesse (or the first Princess Diaries book in French!) and I don't want to type in all those special characters, so the 2nd nearest book was The Woman Who Rides Like a Man by Tamora Pierce, the 3rd Alanna book which I am currently rereading:

Shortly after Coram's return, Mari brought Farda, the tribe's midwife, to make her peace with the tribe's new shaman. Within minutes, the two were trading secrets of healing. The next day, Farda took over instructing the apprentices in herbs: from that moment on, most of the women made their peace with Alanna and her young people.

So I tag... hrm...

I must be watching too much TV ... There weren't any books nearby, so I headed to the bookshelf in the front hall -- that's where I keep the "to be read" tomes. And here I find "The Warrior Heir" by Cinda Williams Chima. A friend recommended this YA to me, I ordered it from Amazon, and promptly forgot I had it -- so thanks to you for having me do a search.

Yay! Please tell me if you like it -- I bought it on a whim at the bookstore and haven't read it yet, so a shove (or a warning) would be most appreciated :)

Otay!

I have delegated this book for my "meals in a restaurant" book, so it might take some time to finish -- but I'll let you know something as soon as I get an inkling, or at least an opinion.

Harumph. It's bad luck not to tag me when my rather unusual name is in your book's excerpt...but that's okay because I don't feel like doing it anyway. The nearest book is Vampire Kisses but I don' feel like getting up to get it!

Yipes! Sorry -- and you would have had the MOST books to choose from, too. I beg dunderheadedness ;)

"Within a day I was transporting three young quarter horses the sixty miles from Santa Ynez north to my place at Laurellinda. After a week, I reported back to him that one three-year-old gelding, in particular, a horse called Traveler's Echo, possessed talent. Mr. Harcourt seemed pleased and invited me to meet him at Juniper farms." The Man Who Listens to Horses - Monty Roberts

Oh, I've always meant to read that book. Sounds lovely.
